A concepção de história em Flávio Josefo: “O judeu de Roma”

Resumo: Na segunda metade do século I a .C.; a dominação romana havia se consolidado no Mediterrâneo; tanto territorial como politicamente. O Império; já na época de Augusto (27 a.C. a 14 d.C.); abrangia quase todo o mundo mediterrâneo e oriental e Roma tinha se transformado em seu centro comercial e financeiro. As dificuldades na administração das terras conquistadas eram freqüentes. Em particular; a província da Judéia; também assolada por conflitos internos; sofreu diretamente a intervenção; da qual resultou a guerra entre romanos e judeus. Flávio Josefo; o “judeu de Roma”; viveu esse momento único na história dos judeus. O resultado de sua participação ativa nos conflitos encontra-se relatado na obra A Guerra dos Judeus. Nossos objetivos; nesta dissertação; são analisar a narrativa da guerra judaico-romana apresentada por Josefo e refletir sobre sua concepção de história; abrangendo algumas influências que recebeu da historiografia antiga.
