Dica de J.Hobbins: One of the treasures on Rabbi Eric Levy’s site is the large quantity of pdfs of important articles and reference materials related to the Dead Sea Scrolls and to the 200 year historical period stretching from 175 bce to 75 ce. You will wish that you participated in Sid Leiman's 2004 DSS course at Yeshiva University, from which the reading list is derived.
Included: more than 400 pages of text from the hard-to-find and very well done revised edition of Emil Schürer, The History of the Jewish People in the Age of Jesus Christ. Volume 1 (revised and edited by Geza Vermes, Fergus Millar, and Martin Goodman: Edinburgh: T & T Clark, 1973). The revision of Schürer’s masterpiece was thorough for the time (1973) and remains the standard point of departure. Everything you wanted to know about the historical background of Hanukkah and the census of Quirinius - Luke 2:1-5, but were afraid to ask. Here’s the link. Lots of excellent articles on the DSS in the same place.
